Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, participated in the high-level conference “The future of women, peace and security in Albania” organized by the OSCE Presence in Tirana.

Minister Xhaçka stressed that Albania has made great progress in increasing the inclusion of the role of women in various fields, while presenting some statistics on this issue.

“The Agenda for Women, Peace and Security will be part of the file of Albania’s priorities during its mandate in the Security Council. Having such a priority, the work we will have to do, the alliances, collaborations and synergies that we will create, the attention that will fall on us, but also the attention that Albanians will have on the work of their country in the Security Council, will all be special reasons to further advance in the consolidation of women’s rights and of their natural well-deserved position in decision-making, governance, in every field and every discipline of a country’s life”, Minister Xhaçka said during her speech.

On January 1, 2022, Albania will sit as a non-permanent member on the UN Security Council for a two-year mandate, where “Women, Peace and Security” is the main priority among the six priorities of this mandate.
