Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

On the occasion of her official visit to Italy, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, held a meeting with her Italian counterpart, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luigi di Maio.

The focus of the meeting was the accordances for the completion of procedures for the agreement on mutual recognition of driving licenses.

“Another concrete step of bilateral cooperation was today’s agreement on the completion of procedures for the Agreement on mutual recognition of driving licenses, which will be signed next week in Tirana. In fact, as agreed with our colleague Di Maio, it is exactly concrete actions like this, although seemingly small in the big plethora of diplomatic actions, which have the most concrete and direct impact on citizens”, said Minister Xhaçka during the statement of the joint press.

In addition, Chief Diplomat Xhaçka praised the continuous and unwavering support of Italy for the integration processes of Albania, emphasizing that Italy has historically adopted a strategic approach to our region, compared to other EU member states.

On the other hand, Minister Di Maio, in addition to assessing Albania’s progress on its EU integration path, he underlined that the conduct of the April 25 elections is very important.

“The April 25 elections will be an essential milestone in the European journey. We are certain that all Albanian institutions and political forces will provide evidence of democratic prudence, confirming that they are ready to take the European path,” said the Italian minister in his speech.
