The Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, had a virtual meeting with the heads of the American-Jewish Committee.

“It is worth emphasizing that we expressed our gratitude for the recognition of the Republic of Kosovo from Israel.”- Cakaj expressed in a Facebook post related with the meeting.

Chief Diplomat Cakaj emphasized that this is a historic development that opens up a whole new horizon with a lot of cooperation opportunities between the two countries.

Further he expressed the endless gratitude to the American-Jewish Committee for the unsparing work to elevate the image of Albania and Albanians everywhere in the world.

“We appreciated also the work that Albania has done in the war against anti-Semitism, especially as the chair of OSCE and with organizing the Balkan Forum against anti-Semitism. The Albanian people excel as a valuable example in the history of Europe as the only peoples that with the support, hospitality and care made it possible to have more Jewish people in Albania after the Second World War than before it.”- Cakaj continued.

In the meeting it was also discussed about the importance of several projects in the field of security, education, economy and culture between Albania and Israel. According to the Chief Diplomat, the historic relation Albania-Israel has to be transformed in concrete projects of economic, political and institutional cooperation.

In the end of the post Cakaj expressed the commitment of Albania to deepen the relations with the United States of America and Israel.
