Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

After the decision of the Greek authorities to ask for a seven day quarantine and a negative test result for all the citizens entering from Albania to Greece, starting from 17th of August, during the last two days, an increased number of citizens were accumulated at the border.

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has immediately contacted the Greek counterpart, negotiating that first the number of tests to be increased in the border entry points with 200 tests per hour. And as of now the number has increased up to 330 per hour.

The testing is continuing without interruption, for all the citizens that want to pass form Albania to Greece. In the meantime, it has been promised by the Greek authorities for an ongoing increase of testing capacities.

We are also negotiating to extend the working schedule at the border entry points for the citizens to travel to Greece during the night.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Defense have provided to the citizens waiting medical staff, ambulances and hygienic services.

We are in continuous contact with the Greek counterpart and we hope that the situation will be solved as soon as possible.
