Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

At the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, responding to media interest, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, spoke about the EU-Western Balkans summit that will be held in Tirana on 6 December 2022.

Minister Xhaçka said that the fact that this summit will be held in Tirana shows major geopolitical changes in the EU in relation to the Western Balkans.

“The expectations for the summit are twofold: Firstly, the reaffirmation of a full and clear commitment to the perspective of EU membership for all BP countries. Secondly, the Summit should serve as an opportunity where the plethora of engagements between the two regions come into play, from security to foreign policy issues, to the rule of law, the internal market and cooperation in specific sectors. The summit will be a good opportunity to show the leaders of the participating countries the Albanian hospitality at its best”, said the Albanian chief diplomat.

On December 6, Tirana will host leaders from 30 European countries in a major EU-Western Balkans summit.
