Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

The NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs met informally from May 31 to June 1 in Oslo, Norway. The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka attended the meeting as well.

The purpose of this discussion was to prepare for the themes that would be covered at the upcoming NATO summit in Lithuania, which Minister Xhaçka described as being highly significant because it will take place at a crucial juncture for the security of the Euro-Atlantic region.

“A united response to this issue from the Alliance at this summit is essential. Continuing and stepping up support for Ukraine is part of this.”- she said.
Regarding the situation in the north of Kosova, the Albanian chief diplomat said that it is important to take steps towards the normalization of relations in order to achieve mutual recognition.
“I strongly condemned the violent attacks against KFOR and emphasized full support for the KFOR mission, including the deployment of additional troops. Along with other allies, I stressed the significance of Serbia and Kosovo’s participation in the talks in particular, following through on the promises made. De-escalation of the situation is essential right now”, she stated.
The next NATO summit with the participation of Heads of State will be held on July 11-12, in Vilnius, Lithuania.
