Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, will receive the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, Mélanie Joly, on an official visit tomorrow.

The visit of the Canadian Foreign Minister to Albania is part of her tour in Europe, which includes Slovenia, North Macedonia, and our country.

This is the second visit of a Canadian Foreign Minister to Tirana in the span of 9 years.

Minister Mélanie Joly’s visit to Albania is a testimony of the intensification of high-level exchanges and political dialogue between the two countries.

Political and diplomatic relations between Albania and Canada have further developed during these years, with a direct impact on strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Both countries share common values and, as NATO allies, are committed to maintaining peace and security at a regional and international level.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada visits Albania at a time when Canada’s role and contribution on the international stage have significantly increased, highlighted by the active role of Minister Joly. Additionally, our country has served as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for over a year and will assume the Security Council presidency in September.
