The Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, attended today the Foreign Ministers’ meeting of member states of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative.

This initiative, according to Acting Minister Cakaj, is of particular importance in increasing regional cooperation and strengthening joint efforts in the EU accession process.

In a Facebook post regarding his participation in this meeting, Cakaj stressed that the discussion focused on joint measures taken by all countries in the fight against COVID-19, the need to open borders and economic recovery.

Also, the Head of the Albanian Diplomacy Cakaj expressed readiness to deepen cooperation through concrete projects in the field of tourism, environment, infrastructure and transport.

“Albania continues to play an irreplaceable role in regional initiatives and to work hard and systematically on all the projects needed to move forward towards the European Union,” Cakaj concluded.
