Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

In her speech right after the government meeting, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Xhacka confirmed that there is now an agreement on the transboundary support program between Albania, Kosovo and European Commission, which decides on the allocation of funds for 2020.

The minister emphasized that the fund agreed on this program aims to support the economic and social development of the cross-bordering area between Kosovo and Albania.

“It is a financial agreement reaching at almost €1 million, a grant from the European Union’s IPA2 program, and of course, with the joined financing of our two countries it might reach up to a value of €1.2 Million. We are talking about all the municipalities around Lezha and Kukesi, which through this joined attempt will benefit in the sectors of environment, tourism, education, youth and cultural heritage, strengthening at the same time the collaboration between the two countries, bringing concrete profits in these municipalities and the people who live there”, said the minister.

According to the minister, the role of MEFA will be to support all the Albanian beneficiaries, by assisting them in successful implementation of these projects.
