BILATERAL RELATIONS BETWEEN ALBANIA AND MOLDOVA

The Republic of Moldova is located in Eastern Europe, bordered by Romania to the west and Ukraine to the north, east and south (via the disputed territory of Transnistria). The capital of The Republic of Moldova is Chisinau. The Republic of Moldova has a mixed system of government. It has a dual executive consisting of a President, Prime Minister, Council of Ministers and a unicameral legislature.

OVERVIEW

Diplomatic relations between Albania and the Republic of Moldova were established on December 23, 1992. Relations between the two countries are considered very good. Albania and the Republic of Moldova cover each other from their respective Embassies in Sofia, Bulgaria.

BILATERAL RELATIONS

On February 16, 2022, were conducted the first diplomatic consultations between the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova. These consultations marked another step of cooperation between the two countries in terms of bilateral issues, cooperation in the field of european integration and multilateral cooperation.

Albania supports Moldova’s European aspirations. In this context, Albania has offered its experience for the path of Moldova’s European integration.

Economic relations with Moldova are at a low level, with a slight upward trend. The revival of economic cooperation remains a priority in the political-diplomatic program of both parties. The current legal framework with the Moldovan party constitutes a good basis for strengthening cooperation, with about 15 agreements signed.
