BILATERAL RELATIONS BETWEEN ALBANIA AND PORTUGAL

The Portuguese Republic or Portugal (Portuguese: República Portuguesa) is a country located in southwestern Europe, facing the Atlantic Ocean. Portugal is bordered on the west and south by the Atlantic Ocean and on the east and north by Spain. The Portuguese state also includes several islands in the Atlantic Ocean, such as the islands of Acora and Madajra. The capital of Portugal is Lisbon.

The country in which this republic was created has had a constant flourishing during almost 3100 years of domination of various empires and cultures ranging from Iberians, Tartessons, Celts, Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Greeks, Romans, Germanic tribes and walruses. All the cultures of these empires, kingdoms and famous peoples, have left their mark on this country.

The name of the Republic “Portugal” itself seems to come from the ancient country after the Roman name “Portus Cale”, which is thought to be a Latin-Greek word combined with the meaning “Beautiful Port” or any combination of words of other peoples that have left traces in the nucleus of the most famous empire in the 15th and 16th centuries, stretching from Brazil to India.

Between Portugal and Albania there is mutual support, understanding and friendship, which have been increased during the years.
