On March 2nd 2018, it was held the event for the presentation of the programme “Engaging of the Albanian Diaspora to the social and economic development of Albania”, an initiative initiated in cooperation between the Albanian MEFA and the IOM Office in Tirana.

The meeting was attended by the deputy Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Etjen Xhafaj, Minister of State for Diaspora, Pandeli Majko, Italian Ambassador to Albania, Alberto Cutillo, representatives of IOM and the Italian Cooperation in Tirana, which is the donor of this programme.

In his speech, Xhafaj noted the importance of implementing the concrete projects included in this programme as well as the role of MEFA in the implementation of innovative projects with a focus on the economic dimension but not only.

According to him, MEFA will keep up with its maximal commitment to implementing projects such as providing online training for Albanian embassies and consulates for engaging Albanian Diaspora and economic diplomacy; developing the concept and launching of the platform Connect Albania to foster investment and information packages; support for human capacity building; providing support for field activities including workshops; engagement to any embassy and consulate of the Albanian state, of prominent figures from the Diaspora, as a natural promoter of the country and the values ​​of Albania
