Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, participated at the 41st session of the UNESCO General Conference, which coincided with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of this organization.

Minister Xhaçka praised the contribution that Albania gives to the UN system, while confirming our country`s support to the reforms undertaken by UNESCO for its modernization and strategic transformation process.

Minister Xhaçka once again brought to the attention of all member countries of the organization, the issue of Kosovo’s membership, based on the principle of all-inclusiveness.

“ The inclusion of Kosovo would not only be the right thing to do, but the inclusion of Kosovo would also be the sound thing to do if indeed the priority is to deal with the recurrent claims regarding the preservation of the cultural heritage in Kosovo. Because the truth is that there is no better and more efficient way to deal with the preservation of cultural heritage than through joint national and international efforts. Therefore, I sincerely hope that reason will ultimately prevail and Kosovo will be welcomed here, so that its citizens, Albanians, Serbs and others, join this large community and work together with other nations in promoting the principles and values that bring all of us together here” said Minister Xhaçka in her speech.

By congratulating the organization on this anniversary, Minister Xhaçka, expressed the confidence for the continuation of the unique role and contribution of UNESCO in addressing global challenges.
