Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

The Municipal Assembly in Bujanovac, supported by the initiative of 26 Albanian councilors, declared today “Honorary Citizen of Bujanovac” the acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj.

The Speaker of the Municipal Assembly, Enver Ramadani, read the initiative in question, which was followed by applause and standing up as a sign of respect for Chief Diplomat Gent Cakaj.

“Today is a significant day for all citizens of Bujanovac. His unparalleled support for the municipality of Bujanovac and its citizens in various fields and the coexistence of pro-European values make him an “Honorary Citizen” for the honor and respect he paid to a small municipality completely forgotten by all those who had the institutional obligation to support it.

“Taking into consideration his commitment and his efforts to improve the economic situation in our municipality, unconditional cooperation in all other areas, I believe and I am confident that Minister Gent Cakaj is worthy to be the holder of  the title ”Honorary Citizen” of the Municipality of Bujanovac. By honoring high profile personalities such as Minister Gent Cakaj, we connect them more and more strongly with the city and our fellow citizens. Therefore, on behalf of all councilors that have signed this initiative, in my personal name and in the capacity of the Speaker of the Municipal Assembly of Bujanovac, I invite you to support this initiative and to vote this proposed decision”.- said Ramadani in his speech.

Following today’s decision of the Municipal Assembly of Bujanovac, the Serbian Ministry of Local Government should give the green light to make official the declaration of the Albanian chief diplomat, as an honorary citizen this municipality.
