Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

The acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, via a Facebook post has remembered and honored every innocent victim of genocidal practices in the world on the occasion of the International Day of Remembrance of Victims of Genocide.

“Today we especially remember the victims of the genocide perpetrated on the Albanian people of Kosovo by Serbia in the last war in Kosovo,” Cakaj said in his post.

According to Chief Diplomat Cakaj, unfortunately Serbia has not only yet apologized for crimes against humanity and genocide committed in Kosovo, but it continues to hide the fate of thousands of Albanians missing from the last war.

“On a day like this, it is worth noting that no strategy of relativism and no denial policy, that sadly prevails today in Serbia, can change the truth of the last war, nor undo the macabre crimes committed by Serbia  in Kosovo. ”- continued the acting Minister Cakaj.

The Head of Diplomacy stressed that the commitment to a peaceful future does not mean forgetting the genocide committed by Serbia in Kosovo. According to him, honoring the victims, Serbia’s apology and full disclosure of the truth of the recent war in Kosovo is a precondition for lasting reconciliation and peace.
