Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has been informed through its Embassy in Athens that yesterday evening, on 04.12.2018, in the area of Kavala, the Albanian citizen Marios Isak, born on 31.07.2000 in Kavala, Greece, was found dead.

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs expresses its deep regret on the loss of life of the Albanian citizen and expresses the most profound condolences to his family and relatives. The Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Athens is in contact with the family of the deceased to provide the necessary assistance.

This is the fourth murder of an Albanian citizen within the last two weeks. MEFA expresses its concern over the series of murders of Albanians in Greece over the past two weeks and at the same time its solidarity with their families.

MEFA voices its indignation on the loss of life of our compatriots, which is further deepened due to delays in solving these cases by the Greek authorities.

MEFA strongly condemns the extremist background and hate speech that has accompanied these events in the neighboring country and calls on the Greek authorities to condemn and halt any attempt of the Golden Dawn or other extremist groups that attempt to violate the security and dignity of Albanian people who live and work in the neighboring country.

We will in no way allow getting used to their xenophobic calls on their communication channels, nor will we accept the pathetic and nationalistic victimization of anyone who does not miss a chance to attack Albania in European forums.

Under the circumstances when our citizens are suffering the pressure of an unprecedented campaign of hatred and violence, MEFA expresses the commitment of the Republic of Albania to provide to the victims and their families all the necessary legal and financial support to protect their fundamental rights as members of the largest European community that has been living, studying and contributing for decades in Greece.
