On 27.10.2020, the repatriation operation of five Albanian citizens from northeastern Syria was successfully completed, bringing to Albania four children and a woman with severe health problems.

The finalization of this important humanitarian operation was made possible thanks to the cooperation, professional and serious, as well as the unsparing support of the Lebanese, Syrian governments, as well as the Autonomous Administrations of Northern and Eastern Syria.

The Government of the Republic of Albania expresses its sincere thanks for the cooperation and support of the authorities and other agencies involved in this operation, and is confident that this cooperation will continue in the future to enable the return to Albania of all Albanian children, including other persons who have not committed crimes or other terrorist acts.

The return of children and others not involved in criminal or terrorist activities is not only an important humanitarian responsibility, but also a valuable contribution to the joint fight against terrorism.
