The acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, had a phone conversation with the Minister of State for Europe of Germany, Michael Roth.

The call focused on the preparations for the German EU Council Presidency, during which the Western Balkans is expected to be in the center of attention, as well as the fulfillment of all obligations by Albania to hold the First Intergovernmental Conference.

“We underlined the inalienable commitment of Albania to implement all the necessary conditions to advance on the European path,” Cakaj said in a Facebook post about the conversation with Roth.

The talks also focused on co-operation between Albania and Germany, as well as between the EU in the joint fight against the COVID19 pandemic.

“While we positively assessed our efforts, we agreed to coordinate actions for the gradual opening of borders and economic recovery,” concluded Chief Diplomat Cakaj.
