The Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, had a phone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway, Ine Marie Eriksen Søreide.

The discussion between the counterparts focused on the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, as a key issue for security and development in the Western Balkans, Chief Diplomat Cakaj stressed that the only lasting agreement is the agreement for the recognition of the Republic of Kosovo by Serbia.

Further, Cakaj expressed his gratitude to Minister Eriksen Søreide for the support provided by Norway after the earthquake and against COVID-19, as well as for the financial assistance to RYCO and the principled approach regarding the process of Albania’s EU membership.

Furthermore, the ministers positively assessed the cooperation within the OSCE and talked about the preparation of the virtual meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the participating countries in December. Cakaj expressed his gratitude to Norway for the continuous political and technical support for Albania, as the OSCE Chairman-in-Office.

Albania and Norway have exchanged support for their candidacies in the Security Council. Regarding this issue, the counterparts agreed to deepen the technical cooperation between the two countries in this great initiative.
