Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

In the course of the meeting of the OSCE Foreign Ministers, Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs had a meeting with the Acting Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Reeker.

Discussions during the meeting centred on issues of common interest, the Albanian OSCE Chairmanship in 2020, the perspective of launching negotiations for Albania, and the situation across the Balkans.

In a Facebook post, Acting Minister Cakaj wrote that, ‘We also discussed Albania’s priorities and action plan for its OSCE Chairmanship in 2020! The United States of America offer their absolute support for this very important international commitment of Albania!’

Additionally, both conversational partners committed themselves to further pursue cooperation between the two countries, and intensify communication in the context of the OSCE, and beyond.

Referring to the earthquake that struck Albania on 26 November 2019, Cakaj pointed out that the United States of America expressed their full solidarity with and their strong willingness to assist Albania in coping with the consequences of the earthquake.
