Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj had a meeting with the new Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Albania Nait Hasani.

The news is confirmed by the Head of Albanian diplomacy, who, in a Facebook post, underscored the need for a new momentum of cooperation to be built between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Albania.

Acting Minister Cakaj announced that advancing relations between the two countries towards creating a unified commercial space and a single customs union is of strategic and pragmatic importance.

‘We will work closely to take cooperation between two States belonging to a nation, to an entirely new level!’ Cakaj writes.

The meeting also centred around the need for the Republic of Albania and that of Kosovo to speak with one voice in addressing the war crimes, the ethnic cleansing projects, and the genocide perpetrated by Serbia in Kosovo, as well as the crimes systematically committed by Serbia against the Albanian people in Kosovo.

Cakaj states that Albania, while unconditionally supporting the Republic of Kosovo, underlines the need to raise the issue of war reparations to be made by Serbia. And such process must be finalised with the ultimate recognition of the Republic of Kosovo by Serbia as a pre-condition for historic justice and progress of the region.

‘Albania will intensify its commitments to supporting the Republic of Kosovo, and its empowerment internationally. Both States must work jointly in the light of the lofty national ideals!’ the Head of Albanian diplomacy declares in the end of his Facebook post.
