Thanks to the excellent work of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Diplomatic Representations of the Republic of Albania, in cooperation with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, Ministry of Health and Social Protection, and Ministry of Interior, today started the operation for the repatriation of the Albanians stranded outside the country, due to the situation caused by COVID-19 pandemic, with the closing of the borders.

Acting Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs himself is travelling to Rome by the plane “Lasgushi”, made available for carrying out this operation, in order to ensure the finalization of all procedures and to ensure the repatriation of 120 Albanians to their country.

The operation will continue during all the week to make possible the repatriation of the Albanians stranded in different countries, via land and aerial routes.

The repatriation of the citizens, according to the MEFA statement, will be made according to three categories which include: the Albanian citizens which have stayed more than 90 days in the countries where they have been stranded, the Albanian students in the countries where they are studying and the humanitarian cases.
