The Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, welcomed today in an official visit to Tirana, the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria, Alexander Schallenberg, and the Minister of State for the Constitution and the European Union, Caroline Edtstadler.

In a Facebook post regarding the meeting, Cakaj said that the ministers praised the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries and the very valuable cooperation in international organizations.

“Austria has strongly supported the opening of accession negotiations with EU, the Albanian OSCE Chairmanship for 2020 and today the two Austrian ministers reaffirmed their support for Albania’s bid for the 2022-2023 UN Security Council non-permanent seat.” – stressed the Head of the Albanian Diplomacy Cakaj in his Facebook post.

During the official visit, the two Austrian ministers donated a significant amount of humanitarian packages and medical equipment, to facilitate the coping with the consequences of COVID-19 in Albania.
