Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj attended the 4th Edition of the meeting of the Union for the Mediterranean Regional Forum held Barcelona.

This Forum centred around the consolidation of the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation on three main pillars, including human resources development, the overall social and political stability, and further regional integration.

In a Facebook post, the Head of Albanian diplomacy underlined that, ‘Through its leadership of the Mediterranean Contact Group, Albania aims at improving interaction between the countries across this region and the Western Balkans in areas being instrumental in strengthening the women’s role in society, the joint action on climate changes, and the involvement of a greater number of young people in the development policies overall.’

In the course of the meetings held in the framework of this Forum, Acting Minister Cakaj invited the high representatives from the Mediterranean countries to attend the OSCE Contact Group Conference to take place in Tirana between 24 and 25 October 2019.

‘Albania is carrying on its efforts to intensify its diplomatic commitments and strengthen its role internationally,’ Cakaj wrote in conclusion.
