Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

The acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, attended today the consecutive meeting of the Committee for European Integration.

Cakaj reported to the Committee on the major work that has been done so far and the tasks set for the future, in order to progress towards the EU membership.

“Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Albania’s work to set up a negotiating team, the technical preparations for EU membership talks and fulfillment of all commitments set out in the Council’s conclusions have incessantly continued,” said Cakaj in a statement on Facebook, regarding his participation in this meeting.

Also, the Head of the Albanian Diplomacy stressed that the start of negotiations is not only the culmination of major reforms that Albania has made in the five key priorities but also the opening of new tasks that require the unsparing work of everyone and the cooperation of all.
