In the course of his stay in Israel, Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj visited the ‘Yad Vashem’ Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem.

Acting Minister Cakaj was introduced to horrible stories of Hebrews’ mass extermination during the Second World War.

Acting Minister Cakaj twittered that ‘Albania is the only country in Europe, where, following the Second World War, the number of Hebrews was ten times higher.’

For this reason, the Israeli people and State have always expressed appreciation for nobility of the Albanian people.

‘Deeply moved and very proud to be on the right side of history. Taking action against antisemitism is a moral obligation for all of us,’ Cakaj wrote further on.

In January 2019, the prestigious Raoul Wallenberg Foundation awarded Albania the honorary title ‘House of Life.’
