Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj attended the High-level Conference on European Perspective convened in Thessaloniki.

With reference to his participation in Conference, the Head of Albanian diplomacy stated in a Facebook post that emphasis was placed on two very important issues.

First, the participants highlighted the importance of starting negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia as a critical measure instrumental in advancing the implementation of reforms domestically, strengthening regional cooperation, and uplifting the European spirit across the Western Balkans.

Second, they underscored how particularly important is for visa liberation to be granted to the Republic of Kosovo, both for its citizens and for the EU to maintain its reliability across the region.

‘All the participants in this Conference support without hesitation the immediate start of the EU accession talks for Albania!’ Cakaj ends his post.
