Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj received in an official meeting the political representatives of the Albanian factor from Montenegro.

In a Facebook post, Cakaj wrote that, ‘During the current year, we have decided to waive work permits for the Albanians from Montenegro, who want to work in Albania, finance the Albanians’ National Council in Montenegro, and open the Consulate General in Ulqin.’

Such actions are conducive to pursuing a more comprehensive strategy for strengthening the relations between the Albanian State and the Albanian political factor in Montenegro. Such actions, according to Cakaj, are insufficient as compared to the real needs of the Albanians there.

We will be committed, he underlined, to continue to strengthen the relations between the Albanian factor in Montenegro and Albania.

Likewise, in the course of the meeting they discussed in detail the forms of concrete cooperation so as to empower the Albanian factor.

This meeting, Acting Minister Cakaj said, must also be a place to start total unification of all the political representatives of the Albanians from Montenegro, conducive to their vital interests.

‘We remain fully committed to hold the Albanians’ position across the region in high esteem, and to continue the constructive commitment in compliance with the principles of regional cooperation and good neighbourly relations,’ Cakaj closed his post.
