Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj recalls in a Facebook post the massacre perpetrated in Račak 21 years ago.

‘Twenty-one years ago, the Serbian forces brutally killed 45 Albanian civilians, including elderly, men and women, and children. This event both deeply shocked the conscience of the entire democratic world, and accelerated NATO’s military and political operation in Kosovo,’ Acting Minister Cakaj stated.

Additionally, recalling the massacre in Račak, he underlined that we are also recalling the journey towards Kosovo’s independence through the ugliest campaigns of ethnic cleansing and genocide.

‘Twenty-one years on, we still recall the need to bring to justice the political inspirers and military perpetrators of ethnic cleansing and acts of genocide in Kosovo,’ Cakaj closes his statement.
