Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

During the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj met the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Rosemary A. DiCarlo.

In a Facebook post, Acting Minister Cakaj wrote that this meeting centred around three main issues: Albania’s support for increased effectiveness of the peacekeeping operations carried out by the Organisation, and the constant efforts to strengthen the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund; and the need for the Republic of Kosovo to join the UNO, and for its independence to be recognised by all the Member States; as well as Albania’s nomination for a non-permanent seat in the Security Council during the period between 2022 and 2023.

‘Albania will always be a reliable partner and a constructive factor in the bilateral relations, and in the multilateral organisations overall!’ Cakaj pointed out in the end.
