Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, attended the Warsaw Security Forum, which was established in 2014 with the aim to gather policy makers, industrial leaders, as well as military and civilian experts from all the world to discuss on events, opportunities and challenges lying ahead the Transatlantic Community.

During this Forum, Minister Bushati delivered his speech as a panelist at the Ministerial Session entitled “Catching wind in rough waters – EU and Western Balkans”, discussing some of the issues related to the European Integration Process of the Western Balkans, expectations and the future of the Berlin process, in the framework of the upcoming Summit due to be held in Poland.


In his remarks, Minister Bushati elaborated on the European integration process of the Western Balkans focusing on its challenges between the consolidation of reforms, especially on rule of law. “We are experiencing the enlargement process through the justice reform as a reforming priority of the Balkans. Rule of law is a prerequisite to build a sustainable society and economic development. “Albania’s justice reform is a unique case, its process serves not only to the EU integration, but also to modernize its society,”.

During his stay, Minister Bushati met with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Poland, Jacek Czaputowicz. Both Ministers praised the very good institutional and political relations between the two countries, and expressed the interest to intensify its political dialogue in the bilateral and multilateral framework.


Minister Bushati praised Poland’s commitment to host the next Berlin Process Summit as an expression of Poland’s commitment to the Western Balkans and the EU Enlargement Process. Albanian top Diplomat confirmed the country’s full commitment to its European agenda, underlining that fulfilling the recommendations is not only an expression of the government will in the EU integration process but above all for the country’s future.
 Both ministers agreed on a greater commitment to deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest such as infrastructure and tourism.
