Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ditmir Bushati received a phone call from Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo. Secretary Pompeo commended the Albanian government for its decision related to two Iranian diplomats. Pompeo expressed the appreciation of the United States government for the Albanian contribution to the protection of common security and fight against terrorism by aligning with other European countries. Secretary Pompeo and Minister Bushati discussed for the further strengthening of cooperation between our two countries particularly in the field of security and fight against terrorism.

Secretary Pompeo congratulated Foreign Minister Bushati on Albania’s confirmation as OSCE Chair-in-Office in 2020 calling it an important contribution of Albania’s foreign policy for the European security. He expressed the readiness of his country to further deepen the bilateral cooperation in security field. Secretary of State Pompeo commended also the contribution of Albania for the security in our region. ​
