The Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, chaired the 43rd meeting of the Council of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Black Sea Economic Union (BSEC) which is currently led by Albania.

Minister Xhaçka emphasized that despite the difficulties created by the pandemic, Albania has managed to successfully manage the agenda, fulfilling all the objectives of the organization.

“One of the most important components of our chairmanship has been the BSEC-EU Interaction aiming to develop a closer interaction with the European Union, in order to achieve better results and orient our joint efforts to address the economic difficulties caused by the pandemic”, the Minister said in her speech.

Minister Xhaçka stressed that Albania, together with Turkey as the host country of the Organization, through successful consultations managed to appoint in unanimity the new Secretary General of the Organization as a consensual candidate among five candidates applying for this position

The BSEC Chairmanship was passed to Georgia following Albania’s successful completion of its term.
