Albania and Israel celebrate today the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Even though the state of Israel has been recognized by the Albanian government since 1949, diplomatic relations between the countries became possible only after the fall of the Iron Curtain. The Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of diplomatic relations was signed in Tel Aviv on 19 August 1991.

After the establishment of the respective representations, bilateral relations saw a new dynamic in the political, economic, cultural and scientific fields. High-level visits over the years showed a political will for closer cooperation in all areas.

To commemorate this day, Minister Xhaçka expressed via social media: “On the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Albania and Israel we look back proudly on a long history of friendship and cooperation. We also look to the future, to build an even stronger partnership”.
