Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, attends the 54th session of the “Munich Security Conference” held on 16-18 February 2018.

The Munich Security Conference, which our country has attended for several years, represents an important and independent meeting of global leaders and international high-level policy experts, invited to engage in informal, open and constructive discussions on current security issues.

The liberal international order crisis, the new momentum of the European defence policy, the necessity of maintaining strong transatlantic ties and the potentially dangerous disregard of the current arms control regime are the main topics of this year.

During this conference, Minister Bushati will also hold a series of bilateral meetings with the Foreign Minister of Spain Alfonso Dastis, Japan’s Foreign Minister Taro Kono and Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavuşoğlu. Minister Bushati will also have meetings with representatives of the German Bundestag.

The main focus of these meetings are the opening of Albania’s accession negotiations with the EU, as well as bilateral issues.
