In the framework of the Albanian Presidency in Office of the Asylum-Migration and Refugee Initiative (MARRI), the National Coordinators’ Meeting and the Forum of Interior Ministers took place in Tirana, in June 11-12, 2018.

The Deputy Ministers of Interior of Kosovo and Macedonia, the Serbian Ambassador to Tirana, Senior Officials from 6 MARRI participants and Representatives of International Organizations such as GIZ, IOM, UNHCR, FRONTEX and Swiss Cooperation participated in these events.

Albania was represented by Ms. Rovena Voda, the Deputy Minister of Interior, and the MARRI National Coordinator. Ms. Voda delivered a speech on behalf of the Minister of Interior Fatmir Xhafaj.

The MARRI Director Tamara Mugosa highlighted the Albania’s active role during the MARRI Presidency in Office (June 2017 – June 2019), in the MARRI Regional Forum. She also mentioned the important achievements in the reform of MARRI during the Albanian Presidency in Office and as well as the increase of the regional cooperation for the Western Balkan countries on migration, asylum and refugee issues.

In conclusion, Albania submitted the MARRI Presidency in Office to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the MARRI participants selected the new Director, Sasko Kocev from FYROM.
