On the second day of his official visit to Macedonia, Minister Bushati met the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Dimitrov and had a press conference after the meeting. Minister Bushati focused on Albania’s support to Macedonia in its Euro-Atlantic project. He praised the role of Albanians as a stability factor and highly supportive of Macedonia’s Euro-Atlantic processes. In this context, he appealed to Macedonian citizens and especially to the Albanians in Macedonia, to vote in favour at the referendum on 30 September, as this agreement is of “great importance for the democratic stability in our region and our common Euro-Atlantic perspective”.

The head of Albanian diplomacy underlined that Albania is eagerly awaiting the implementation of the Macedonian language law, which is a crucial step in improving interethnic coexistence.Both governments are working on the next agenda of the joint meeting between the two governments and for a better synchronization of the interaction with the European Commission in the framework of the screening process. The two counterparts also discussed the situation in the region, the dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo and relations with the neighbouring state, Greece.
Earlier today, Minister Bushati met with Speaker Talat Xhaferri and Deputy Prime Minister Bujar Osmani.

During the meeting with the Speaker of Parliament of Macedonia, Talet Xhaferri, Minister Bushati commended the role of the Parliament and the Albanian political factor in maintaining the pace and dynamics of reforms over the last year.

Minister Bushati and Deputy Prime Minister of Macedonia, Bujar Osmani, also discussed the possibility and the importance of operational cooperation in the screening process, in the conditions in times when there is a clear calendar and horizon for our two countries in 2019. The interlocutors also discussed the possibility for development of the regions and cross-border communities by maximizing EU financial assistance.
