Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, welcomed today the Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Stephan Mayer, who is paying an official visit to Albania.

Minister Bushati expressed gratitude to the State Secretary Stephan Mayer for Germany’s unwavering support in the integration process. Minister Bushati briefed him on the reforms, underlining that it is our government’s commitment to fulfill the recommendations, not only in the context of the EU integration process, but primarily for the future of the country.

The German Parliamentary State Secretary stressed that Albania is on the right track towards the European Union, despite being a difficult but appropriate path. He also emphasized that the German authorities recognize the efforts and achievements of the Albanian government in fulfilling the undertaken commitments and obligations.

Both interlocutors praised the co-operation between the law enforcement agencies of both Germany and Albania in the fight against organized crime, narcotic drugs, but also in the prevention of illegal immigration.

Minister Bushati and German Parliamentary State Secretary Mayer agreed that cooperation and exchange of experiences between our two countries, in areas of mutual interest, will continue to intensify.
