In the framework of the visit to Montenegro, Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, held a meeting with the President of Montenegro, Mr. Milo Djukanovic.

“Albania appreciates President Djukanovic’s contribution to Montenegro’s Euro-Atlantic journey, which at the same time represents a contribution to the stability of the Western Balkans. The visit to Podgorica is an important moment to give a joint message about the necessity of opening negotiations for Albania and North Macedonia, “said Cakaj.

Minister Cakaj, praised the achievements in the field of bilateral co-operation with Montenegro as a model for strengthening regional interaction, and focused on the essential role of Albanians in the neighboring country, considering them as decisive in Montenegro’s Euro-Atlantic progress.

Special emphasis during his visit was placed by Acting Minister Cakaj to the deepening of trade relations that will have a special focus on the forthcoming meeting of the two governments as well as the implementation of the commitments undertaken in the framework of the economic development of the cross-border areas.
