Deputy Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Etjen Xhafaj, held a meeting with a delegation of Polish parliamentarians, headed by Ryszard Terlecki, Vice-President of Parliament of the Republic of Poland and Chairman of Poland-Balkans Parliamentary Group recently created in Sejm of Poland.

The focus of the discussion was the importance of Albania’s European integration and the Western Balkans, as well as the role of parliamentary diplomacy in the framework of regional integration processes.

Deputy Minister Xhafaj expressed gratitude for the support that Poland has given to Albania in the most important processes in which it has engaged, such as NATO membership and European Union integration, as well as concrete engagement in the framework of the Berlin Process.

Furthermore, Deputy Minister Xhafaj assured the will of the Albanian Government towards the fulfilment of five key priorities, as well as expressed that Albania expects a positive decision to open accession negotiations with the EU despite the unprecedented political situation in the country.

Deputy Minister Xhafaj appreciated the very good bilateral and multilateral relations between Albania and Poland and expressed the readiness of the Albanian side to pursue further cooperation in areas of common interest.

Vice-President of Polish Parliament, Ryszard Terlecki, appreciated the progress made so far and underlined that it is necessary to continue the work initiated for the fulfilment of tasks in the framework of Albania’s European integration as well as reassured Poland’s reiterated support for the enlargement process of the European Union as a whole and the integration of Albania and the Western Balkans in particular.
