During his stay in Israel, Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj was received in a meeting by the Minister for Regional Cooperation of Israel, Tzachi Hanegbi.

Albania’s preparations for the Mediterranean Contact Group Conference, to take place between 24 and 25 October 2019, were the main focus of this meeting.

In consideration of the relevance of the topics of the Conference, including regional cooperation in the field of security, as well as the common policies on the fight against terrorism, and on cooperation for social and economic prosperity across the Mediterranean countries, which will be at the centre of discussions in this Conference, its attendance by Israel would be of special importance.

Additionally, both Ministers talked about the possibility of further strengthening bilateral relations between Albania and Israel, particularly in the areas of economy, tourism, and security.

On the heels of the visit by the head of the Albanian diplomacy to Israel, further concrete political and diplomatic actions will be taken to help strengthen relations between the two countries.
