Under the auspices of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and on the personal initiative of the Acting Minister Gent Cakaj, the joint conference of the political representatives of the Albanians from across the region, Albania’s Role in Promoting the National Interests of the Albanians across the Western Balkan Space, was held today in Tirana.

Intended as a round table, this conference was attended by all the senior political representatives from across the region, including the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo Behgjet Pacolli, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro Genc Nimanbegu, Chairman of the Commune of Presheva Shqiprim Arifi, and many others.

The purpose of the conference was to draw up joint platforms of action, and coordinate political stances around affirmation of the national rights.

‘The Albanians have a key role to play in support of the Euro-Atlantic processes across the Western Balkans! However, the Euro-Atlantic integration process does not replace the need to further pursue nationwide cooperation!’, Acting Minister Cakaj wrote on this issue in a Facebook post.

He laid particular emphasis on the importance of full coordination of the foreign policy between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Albania.

As well as being a task of national and historic importance, strengthening of relations among the Albanians, according to Cakaj, is a matter of political and strategic interest.

The Albanian political representatives from across the region greeted and appreciated the initiative taken by the Head of Albanian diplomacy to bring them together for a round table.
