Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj is in Kosovo to pay his first official visit since he took office.

During his stay in Prishtina, Cakaj met with his counterpart the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo Glauk Konjufca.

In the course of the meeting, both counterparts expressed their determined willingness to foster the strategic and comprehensive cooperation in the field of foreign policy so as to fully pursue the opportunities, and ensure harmonisation of the national strategic and diplomatic goals. Additionally, with regard to regional developments, the parties discussed the further pursuing of the regional and multilateral cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, both counterparts held a press conference during which Cakaj stated that, ‘Minister Konjufca and I agreed to immediately call the meeting of the Joint Council for Strategic Planning for the Coordination of Policies so as to coordinate our positions in the field of foreign policy, and develop a platform for complementary political positions.’

Likewise, Cakaj assured that Albania will continue to commit itself in support of Kosovo in the process of further advancing Kosovo’s recognition and membership in the regional initiatives and international organisations, pointing out during the press conference that, ‘It is high time for us to have a more intensive plan to trigger all our capacities to ensure the recognition of Kosovo.’
