 Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj paid his first official visit to Kosovo, since he took office. During his visit to Pristina, which is taking place at this very important moment with regard to the bilateral cooperation between the two States, Cakaj had a number of meetings with the highest-ranking leaders of the Republic of Kosovo.

Initially, Cakaj met with his counterpart the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo Glauk Konjufca. During the meeting, both counterparts expressed their determined willingness to foster the strategic and comprehensive cooperation in the field of foreign policy so as to fully pursue the opportunities, and ensure harmonisation of the national strategic and diplomatic goals. Additionally, with regard to regional developments, the parties discussed the further pursuing of the regional and multilateral cooperation. Cakaj assured his counterpart Konjufca that Albania will continue to commit itself in support of Kosovo in the process of further advancing Kosovo’s recognition and membership in the regional initiatives and international organisations.

Then, Cakaj met with the President of the Republic of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi. In the course of the meeting, both interlocutors acknowledged the excellent brotherly relations between Albania and Kosovo. Additionally, they laid emphasis on the materialization of the strategic and comprehensive partnership between Albania and Kosovo as a model to foster regional cooperation.

The Head of Albanian diplomacy met with the Chairwoman of the Assembly of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, as well. The parties acknowledged the cooperation between the Parliaments and parliamentary committees over the years, and showed their Governments’ commitment to further pursuing inter-parliamentary cooperation as an impetus to advance relations in all the areas.

Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj also met with the Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti. During the meeting, the parties agreed on the importance of the detailed evaluation and execution of the agreements concluded in the course of the five G2G’s between the two countries, and increased coordination between the institutions and Governments of both countries for the purpose of strengthening the Albanians’ role across the region, and having a strong State of Kosovo and promoting it internationally.
