Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj participated in the Meeting of the Western Balkans Minsters of Foreign Affairs, in the framework of the Berlin Process, which was co-chaired by the Joint Presidency of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Bulgaria.

In this meeting, the Ministers discussed about the importance of the enlargement process credibility and the European perspective of the Western Balkans countries.

In his speech, concerning the reforms that Albania has undertaken, Acting Minister Cakaj stated: “These reforms are not only undertaken because of the European aspiration of Albania. The results of the vetting process and the results of the fight against corruption and organized crime are not only statistical results, which Albania annually presents to the European Commission. These results have a direct impact on the life of our citizens.

Moreover, based on the progress and the Commission’s report, Cakaj said that Albania expects that the Member States reflect positively, based on merit and to give the green light to open the negotiations, immediately.
