Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

The Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, during his official visit to Sarajevo, met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bisera Turković.

The focus of the meeting was the deepening of bilateral relations, especially through the increase of trade exchanges and the promotion of tourism.

“We jointly agreed on the importance of regional co-operation in the areas of interconnectivity, transport, digitalization and the need for increased efforts towards European Union membership.” – Cakaj said in a Facebook post.

Moreover, during the meeting, special emphasis was placed on the recognition of the independence of the Republic of Kosovo from Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a decision not only historically fair, but also extremely important for the development of democracy and strengthening of prosperity in the Western Balkans.

“We share the same view on the good cooperation in a range of international organizations, including the OSCE and UNESCO. It is also worth mentioning the support of Bosnia and Herzegovina for Albania’s bid for a non-permanent seat in the Security Council 2022-2023.” – Chief Diplomat Cakaj cocluded his post.
