The Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, had a phone conversation with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Kenji Wakamiya.

The conversation focused on the measures to be taken to increase economic cooperation and bring more Japanese investment to Albania.

According to Chief Diplomat Cakaj, the substantial increase in political communication should also be accompanied by a qualitative increase in economic interaction. Therefore, the counterparts expressed readiness to continue high-level inter-state visits as soon as the measures imposed by the pandemic are eased.

“We highly appreciated the bilateral cooperation and agreed to give each other support in a series of international initiatives.” – said Cakaj in a Facebook post.

Further, Cakaj thanked the Japanese government for its valuable assistance to Albania during the post-earthquake reconstruction process and the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
