Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs declared that after extensive talks and negotiations with the Greek counterpart during these days, with the high level officials we reached an understanding that the border entry point in Kakavia will continue working even after 22:00.

The border will remain open only during tonight and will continue with the same intensity of testing and passing of citizens still waiting in the Kakavia border until tomorrow, Sunday, 16th of August 2020, 22:00.

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs notifies that starting from tomorrow 16th of August 2020, all the citizens that enter Greece, the 7 day mandatory quarantine will be implemented.

Starting form Monday, 17th of August 2020, only 750 people per day will be allowed to pass the border from Kakavia, and only 300 people per day from Kapshtica, from 06:00 until 22:00, respecting the rules put in place by the Greek counterpart, due to the situation with COVID-19.

All the citizens that fulfill the criteria to travel to Greece (citizen with Greek citizenship, people with permit to stay in Greece, people with minority cards, people who their primary address is in Greece, people who must travel for work purposes – with a specific permit) from Monday they also have to provide the following documents:
• Negative test of COVID-19 (RT-PCR), which should be done at most 72 hours before arriving to the border entry point, from private and public laboratories certified in Albania. This rule does not apply to drivers who transport goods and children under the age of 10.
• The diagnosis certification translated in English, which must have the name, surname and the passport number/identity card number of the person.
• Certificate of filling the special form PLF, with the QR code (from https://travel.gov.gr).

We emphasized that the COVID-19 test is valid only from the laboratories certified from the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, which can be found on the official webpage https://shendetesia.gov.al/mbi-njohjen-e-strukturave-jopublike-per-kryerjen-e-testit-rt-pcr/.

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the State Police guarantees maximum care in checking the necessary documents much earlier than arriving at the border, to avoid the long queues of citizens.
