Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

During his stay in Prague, the Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, held an official meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Tomáš Petříček.

During the meeting, the counterparts discussed in particular the importance of increasing economic interaction between the two countries.

“Holding a meeting of the Joint Working Group for Economic Cooperation and launching direct flights Tirana-Prague, are necessary steps to further strengthen the economic ties between the two countries,” said Cakaj in a Facebook post.

Moreover, during the meeting the importance of holding the First Intergovernmental Conference between Albania and the European Union was discussed.
The Czech Republic, stressed the Acting Minister Cakaj, is a strong political supporter of EU enlargement in the Western Balkans and remains ready to provide technical assistance on Albania’s European path.

“Finally, it is worth noting that cooperation in the field of multilateral diplomacy remains extremely valuable. Apart from the cooperation, especially in the human dimension, within the OSCE, there is already support for Albania’s goal to become a non-permanent member of the Security Council 2022-2023.” – concluded his post related to the meeting the Chief Diplomat Cakaj.
