In the framework of the preparations of the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly, a high-level meeting was held today on “The commitment and contribution of everyone in building a better life.” This virtual conference is organized by the Alliance for Multilateralism, whereto Albania is part since its establishment.

This important virtual conference, which addressed a number of vital issues in today’s international developments, was attended by statesmen, senior government officials from around the world, and members of the United Nations. Albania was represented at this conference by the Deputy Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Agron Tare.

Referring to the holding of this commemorative session, in the framework of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the UN and the commitment and contribution that Albania has given and gives to this universal organization during the 65 years of its membership, in his remarks Mr. Tare focused on the role that multilateralism plays in meeting global challenges, where the contribution of all is required. Believing strongly in multilateralism, Albania has been and remains committed to solving the regional and global problems facing the world today, such as the current fight against Covid-19, an eminent threat to all humanity. Albania has also taken on its responsibilities in maintaining and strengthening peace as well as in a general development, leaving no one behind.

Deputy Minister Tare stressed that motivated by this global policy, Albania is successfully leading the OSCE today, has decided on its candidacy for a seat on the Security Council for 2022-2023 and is part of the governing forums of a number of organizations international.

Deputy Minister Tare also focused on Albania’s commitment to better and more effectively implement the Sustainable Development Goals, a global commitment that focuses on man and overall development, protection from climate change, with social-economic consequences, in maintaining and strengthening peace and development, as well as protecting human rights, where Albania is fully committed and gives its internationally recognized contribution.
